Interview With Ekhtearul Islam
1- First of all we would like to thank you for taking the time to provide Querier.net with this interview, please tell us about your web designing and developing background?
Thank you very much for inviting me on this interview. I have a colorful background of web designing. I started since i was in high school in 1999. At that time, the web wasn’t that much popular as today it is. In Bangladesh, internet connection wasn’t easy to get and was so costly stuff then. After that I did try my best to get connected and to learn the basics of web. I was starting professional web development when i was in college in 2003. Then i had the knowledge of how internet works and how to build static and dynamic web pages with simple html and flash 5. Afterwards i learnt XHTML, CSS, PHP, MySql, JAVA SCRIPTS, PHOTOSHOP, ILLUSTRATOR and FLASH. In the meantime i have participated in lots of web developments projects, individual and group projects. In 2004 I was working with a uk-bangladesh based outsourcing company named ‘POSHORA LTD’ as a web developer. I developed about 30 to 35 various sites for them. In 2006 i was working with another Web developing Company named ‘ORBIT SOLUTION LTD’ and developed lots of websites and graphical works for them. Working for enterprises I thought that I’m not satisfied with the contract the companies do with the developers. At lest I wasn’t happy with the value they give for my work. At the beginning of 2007 i was thinking about a virtual developing firm for the talented developers like me where they can prove their ability and to get recognition for their works. Then i started to work as a freelancer. And i found it very enjoying and interesting to work as a freelancer. As a freelancer i have completed about 20 to 30 projects till today, most of the projects were about websites, IT firms, Hotels and Restaurants, Educational institute, Personal pages, Construction Firms, Forums, Consultancy firms, Online shopping etc. In the 2008 i determined to develop XDRMZ as the virtual working place for talented freelancers to expose their work in the lime light. And now its the time to make it happen in 2009. #The XDRMZ STUDIO#- color your dreams!!
2- Tell us more about Xdrmz project.
Xdrmz Studio is a virtual IT firm / outsourcing company. I have planned it, thinking about the freelancers who have talent in them but are not getting exposure. By xdrmz studio, they can get exposure for their quality works. In the site, there will be option for freelancers to register. After a freelancer got registered he or she will be a part of XDRMZ STUDIO. He or she can upload their work example to the folio section of the site. Also there will be personal page section dedicated to every talented freelancers where they can write about their selves, their experiences, their expertise and other things about which they want to let the buyers know. Once a buyer or client will have a look on the portfolio section, they will see the projects preview only by a thumbnail image. at the bottom of the thumbnail the name and the number of the developer will be written. Buyers can see the personal page of the developer by clicking on the name.
3- Why did you start this project?
As i said previously, i started the project thinking about the Freelancers who need to have exposure to the web industry to prove their potentials. Also i thought about myself to start something new and productive. The business plan for the Xdrmz is mainly based on the Online client-developer communication. Xdrmz will be benefited when a client orders for a project to Xdrmz directly. Then the xdrmz will be responsible for the project quality and efficiency and time limitations. The buyers also have the option to choose dedicated developers from the site to develop their project. In this condition, the profit of xdrmz is only the advertisement which is pinned (powered by) at the bottom of the developed project which is one of the terms and condition of XDRMZ to the freelancers. The registered freelancers are free to use XDRMZ as their portfolio to get IT projects individually.
4- How large is your team and what are their backgrounds?
Currently my team isn’t big, only 3 professional freelancers are working with me. All of them are studying in Computer Science and Engineering at various university. They also have a vast experience of web development.
5- What is your design philosophy?
Well, my design philosophy is, “simple, interactive and meaningful”. I try to make stuff simple because simplicity is always appreciated by all. Interactive designs looks move entertaining then the plain designs. And meaningful design is always wanted, thematic design, relevant images, colors are all about meaningful design.
6- What technologies/software are you using for designing Xdrmz website?
For Xdrmz Studio, I’m using Flash CS4, Photoshop CS4, PHP 5, MySql database and Java Scripts. That’s all. In future i would like to use some Blog/forums scripts like Vbulletin or wordpress.
7- What do you think would be the challenges and problems face Xdrmz ?
I think all kinds of productive approaches had to face obstacles, and xdrmz has already faced lot of challenges. I was trying to make it stand for last 2 years. But couldn’t manage the perfect plan and professional individuals who want to work for a completely new thinking and innovative approach. As it will be a non-beneficial/ low benefit project at the beginning. So, i found it hard to develop by own. Was searching for developers, had contact with few developing company who were interested to be partners, but at the end there were nothing accelerating or appreciatable. But now, i think its going to be something in real. In future there is chances to get low response from the buyers at the beginning, may be the freelancers will not be interested much on the planning, but i think as time goes on, it will be popular very soon to both buyers and freelancers.
8- How do you see Xdrmz in the next few years?
I see Xdrmz Studio in a good shape in next few years, because it’s going to be the center where buyers can choose their work quality, expenses, and off course the developer, samely the freelancers have the opportunity to get highlighted. And it seems a very good opportunity for all related to it. I have more innovative plans for xdrmz but all depends on the growth and benefit.
9- Do you work on any other project?
Ya, I work on all kind of web related projects provided to me. Currently I’m developing a website for a Construction Firm situated in Bangladesh.
10- What sites do you usually visit daily?
Well, I usually check ma emails on Gmail, Check my face book homepage, and have a look on local newspapers websites. That’s all I do visit daily.

How do I Update a WordPress account installed With Fantastico?
i just installed wordpress using fantastico in cPanel, but when i log into the admin section of my blog wordpress tells me i am only using version 2.5, when the latest version is 2.62. Does anyone know if there is a way to update the wordpress account through fantastico (i haven’t put anything on the blog yet), or do i have to do it manually?
Fantastico is often out of date with the version of WordPress. Mostly, it doesn’t matter if you are a bit out of date but if you do want the latest version, check in your cPanel to see if there is an icon called ‘Simplescript’. This is now a much better way of installing WordPress because it has an automatic update facility built in.
If you have Simplescript in your cPanel, go into your root directory and delete all the WordPress files. Then run Simplescript to reinstall the latest version.
